The Power of Artistic Expression

In a world where art holds the power to transcend boundaries and ignite change, the opportunity to spotlight diverse voices has never been more crucial. We aim to foster a more inclusive cultural landscape, celebrate artistic diversity, and provide a space where creativity thrives beyond traditional boundaries. Art has always been a mirror reflecting societal values, struggles, and aspirations. For many BIPOC artists, their work embodies not only personal experiences but also broader cultural narratives that might otherwise be overlooked. By offering a supportive platform to share their work and connect with disenfranchised communities.

Back To The Beginning..

From the cultivation of S.O.T.S, it was slated to amplify the talent of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) talent of all kinds. Our initial market was a Juneteenth celebration, (as featured in Qns) which previously highlighted art from local Queens-based artist, Chris McClean. Mr.McClean also owns Citi Treasures a thrift shop/flea market based in South Jamaica. With a layout that is reminiscent of high-end consignment shops you'd find in Soho or the East Village, Chris manages to put his artistic flair throughout his shop as well as his paintings. Through his abstract creations, he invites the viewer to wander & find their own meaning within his art.

Empowering Communities Through Art

The impact of art extends far beyond the individual artist. By bringing BIPOC art into the spotlight, we’re not only providing artists with much-needed visibility but also enriching the cultural fabric of communities. For many, encountering art that reflects their own experiences can be a powerful and affirming experience. It validates their stories and opens dialogues about shared experiences and diverse histories. S.O.T.S. is committed to supporting both emerging and established BIPOC artists. We recognize that visibility is crucial at all stages of an artist’s career. At our next market, we will feature work from the super-talented Jazunique Hardy.

We invite everyone to join us in celebrating and supporting BIPOC artists & small businesses. Engage with the art, shop, play, and connect with others in your communities. Together, we can build a future where artistic diversity is not ignored or simply celebrated but embraced as a fundamental part of our shared human experience.

Come, explore, shop, play, and be inspired.
